The Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University recently hosted a hands-on workshop titled “Exploring Business Potential with ArcGIS Business Analyst”, aimed at advancing knowledge in Location Intelligence and integrating spatial data analysis into economic and business planning. The program was designed to demonstrate how geospatial technology can be applied to address complex challenges in business, society, and the environment through data-driven solutions.
The workshop provided a unique learning opportunity for students, researchers, and staff interested in bridging economic data and geographic insights. Participants were introduced to the global standard in geospatial analytics: ArcGIS Business Analyst. The course covered a wide range of practical skills, including site analysis, market potential mapping, economic reporting, and spatial decision-making using real-world data.
Held across three sessions — on October 25, 26, and November 1, 2023, from 17:00 to 19:30 — the training took place at the Econ Lab, Deun Bunnak Building, Thammasat Rangsit campus. The program featured expert speakers from business and technology sectors, including Ms. Vilardluck Wongyaofa (Vice President, Business Support), Ms. Davida Klangreongrong (Aerospace Solution Manager), and Ms. Sunaree Tosunan (GIS Instructor).
Participants were given access to ArcGIS Pro Advanced, supported by Esri Thailand, along with a full suite of extensions such as 3D Analyst Pro, Spatial Analyst Pro, Network Analyst Pro, and more. These tools are available for use at the Faculty’s computer lab (Tha Prachan Campus, 4th floor) and Econ Lab (Rangsit Campus, 2nd floor).
All attendees received an official certificate from Esri Thailand and limited-time access to licensed software. The training was capped at 48 participants, and all seats were fully booked — highlighting strong interest and demand for spatial data skills in economic research and professional practice.
