The Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, is organizing a hands-on workshop titled “Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Develop Spatial Economic Maps”, aimed at enhancing spatial data analysis skills among students and academic staff. The program focuses on applying geospatial technologies to economic analysis, policy planning, and the creation of modern, data-driven economic maps.
The workshop will provide in-depth training in ArcGIS Pro, including modules on spatial analysis, map application development, and WebGIS presentation techniques. These skills are intended to support participants in conducting regional research and strategic planning using location-based insights.
The training is scheduled to take place from July 15–17, 2024, between 17:00–19:00, at the Econ Lab, Deun Bunnak Building, Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus. To ensure a focused and high-quality learning experience, participation is limited to 45 seats.
The workshop will be led by two geospatial experts from Esri Thailand — Ms. Davida Klangreongrong and Mr. Thantham Khamyai — who will share their professional experiences and guide participants on how to use GIS for strategic development, data storytelling, and real-world policy applications.
Participants will also receive an official certificate from the Faculty of Economics, as well as temporary access to professional GIS tools, including ArcGIS Pro and advanced extensions such as Geostatistical Analyst and Spatial Analyst, widely used in spatial data science and geographic research.
