From Maps to Smart Agriculture: A GIS Workshop That Will Change How You See Agricultural Data

June 20, 2025, 2 p.m.

Among the four upcoming training workshops soon to be launched by the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, one in particular is capturing attention: “GIS and Economic Data Analysis for Agriculture” — a hands-on workshop that opens the door to Smart Agriculture through cutting-edge tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.

This unique training will help participants realize that spatial data is not distant or abstract, but a powerful tool for tackling real-world agricultural challenges. Students will explore how geospatial data can be used to analyze land suitability for crops, assess risks from natural disasters, and design effective production and marketing strategies in the agricultural sector — no prior experience required.

The centerpiece of the workshop is a practical session on building Web Maps and GIS Applications for agriculture. Students will learn to design, implement, and experiment with geospatial tools under the expert guidance of Ms. Davida Klangreongrong from Chulalongkorn University’s Academic Service Center — an expert with years of experience in teaching and developing GIS tools for public policy.

🗓 Date: September 15–17, 2025
🕔 Time: 17:00–19:00
📍 Venue: Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus)
